Biography

Shannon has been in the practice of forensic accounting at MDD for over 30 years and serves the firm on various committees. She has worked on a variety of complex matters, both domestic and foreign, involving the evaluation of economic damages for a number of diverse industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, ammonia plants, refineries, power generationtransportationmarine, shipbuilding, computer chips, medical centers, hotel & resort properties, food distribution, restaurants, newspaper production, printing companies, lumber, cement, terminal/storage facilities, biodiesel plants and other manufacturing, retail and service industries.

Shannon has been qualified to serve as an expert witness numerous times in federal and state courts as well as arbitration hearings. These engagements include testimony on matters such as lost profitsextra expenses, loss of earnings, product liabilityprofessional liabilityproduct recall and contamination, extortion, fidelity and financial condition analyses.

Throughout her career, Shannon has placed a strong emphasis on serving the firm and the industries with which it works. In 1993, she opened the firm’s Houston location and in 1996, she became MDD’s first female partner. In so doing, she has helped pave the way for other women to follow suit. She has been instrumental in the creation of the Women in Claims London based group, an organization that focuses on bringing together women in the insurance industry.

From 2006-2009, Shannon served as Director of Litigation for MDD and helped establish relationships with a variety of prominent legal organizations. Furthermore, Shannon served as Managing Partner of MDD’s southwest region from 2004-2015. She transitioned out of this role in order to focus on groups such as the Women in Claims and to mentor younger accountants at MDD. Currently, Shannon serves on the firm’s U.S. Executive Committee and advises on matters related to the firm’s growth and strategy.
