Biography

Martin is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, who has graduated from the National University of Buenos Aires with an MSc in 1981. After completing two years as a Dry Dock Engineer for the Argentinean Navy, five years as a Technical Superintendent for a major Argentinean Shipping company, he became an independent Marine Surveyor and Consultant in 1988. As such, Martin acted on behalf of H&M Underwriters, P&I Clubs, Cargo Underwriters and Port Terminals, conducting both condition and damage/casualty surveys and served on numerous occasions as an expert witness for the Bahia Blanca Federal Courts on marine litigation cases.

In 1995, Martin joined Lloyd’s Register (Buenos Aires office). As a Senior Surveyor he conducted Class and Statutory Surveys as well as Condition Assessment Programme (CAP) Surveys. Simultaneously, he was a certified ISM/ISPS Lead Auditor and Trainer and a Scheme Manager for HPMS.

Martin became an LR Principal Surveyor in 2004 and moved to Korea, where he managed the LR Okpo office. In the following two years, under his management and leading a team of 20 surveyors, 21 new ships were delivered, producing an annual income in excess of USD 5.5M for LR.

In 2006, he advanced to Technical Manager of LR Korea, and became responsible for the technical performance of all marine activities in LR Korea, including resolution of technical problems but also coordination, development and control of all marine training activities in LR Korea.

In 2008, Martin got promoted yet again, becoming the Safety Manager for LR Asia, developing and implementing safety training and culture models, applied globally to the whole LR Group.

In 2010 Martin returned to work as an independent Marine Surveyor and the partnership with Evdemon was formed in April 2011
