Biography
Ms. Lagoumidou is a chartered engineer with a Degree (BEng+MEng) in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. She has 17 years of experience working as a designer, project manager and class surveyor/engineer for large CAPEX newbuilding projects including cruise ships, superyachts, high-speed craft, naval ships, ferries, ro-ro ships and floating oil & gas platforms.
Ms. Lagoumidou has applied her practical experience of ship design and shipbuilding gained after her graduation to the role of design approval surveyor for a leading classification society. She has performed structural design approvals for steel, aluminium and composite vessels. She has reviewed Fire Safety, Escapes and LSA including Alternative Designs and Fire risk assessments for new build cruise ships in accordance with SOLAS requirements for passenger ships. She has examined ship and system arrangements for compliance with Safe Return to Port requirements. She has performed surveys and attended tests on cruise ships, relevant to USCG special requirements. She also specialised in the application of the Red Ensign rules for superyachts. In her time as a class surveyor she has contributed to the development of classification rules, provided technical expertise contributing towards miscellaneous IMO instruments, performed technical due diligence work for the class society legal department and developed/delivered formal training courses for external and internal delegates.
